The LisbonBioMed has around 100 students from all over the world developing their research projects across iMM’s 31 Labs, fostering disruptive science through 4 major research lines: Cell and Developmental Biology, Immunology and Infection, Oncobiology and Neurosciences.

To be part of it’s International Program, Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) seek researchers who are passionate about the intersection of basic and clinical sciences, and aspire to impact 21st century biomedical research by answering questions leading to improved treatment, prevention and diagnosis of disease.

By joining iMM’s LisbonBioMed Program, each PhD Student will benefit from:

  • A scholarship in Biomedical Sciences (full tuition and stipend for 4 years);
  • Enrolling in a leading European Biomedical Research Institute, with cutting edge research labs and facilities, and directly connected with Portugal’s largest University hospital: Hospital Santa Maria;
  • A tailor-made curricular offer: following a common training module,  courses are selected according to  a personalized career development plan;
  • The chance to choose the PhD research project and supervisor;
  • The opportunity to spend up to 12 months in a collaborating research institute outside Portugal.

LisbonBioMed is supported by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), and the academic degree is awarded by Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL), accredited by the higher education agency (A3ES).
